Throughout my reading, Jon and Becky are currently making stops and are coming across new people. Early in our assigned reading, we learned about Charley. Charley was Jon's old bird and I find it amazing that Charley saved Jon's life just by saying hello to him everyday. Upon reaching Richmond, Becky returns to New York. Before she left, she told Jon that she would love if their kids were just like him which really surprised me. As I continue to read, I am learning more about Jon. I found it interesting that he received a scholarship for playing soccer which ended up helping him get into college. I really liked reading the part about Cookie, although his life story was sad, I had so many thoughts running through my head. Other people surrounding Cookie were never really accepting him simply because he was different. Miriam however accepted Cookie, which reminded me of myself. I know so many people who aren't "accepted", but I don't let that bother me. I find the good in people and I do not like to be judgmental toward others. I find Cookie's strength to be amazing as well. So far, I am really enjoying this book. I like hearing people's story, it makes me realize things that I never have realized before.
